In 1931, 18-year-old George W. Crouse started his business with only a $500 loan from his older brother and his welding skills. He began by renting the Key Highway Garage on York Street in Taneytown. He spent his time welding and repairing the equipment and vehicles of local businesses and farms. Crouse then moved his shop to the Central Garage in 1933, allowing him enough room for total vehicle service along with enough space to sell Ford models. "Crouse Auto Sales and Service" was established after one more move in 1939, which was later franchised in late March of 1941.

George’s two sons, Kenneth and George B. Crouse began to help run the family business in 1958. In 1963, the business was incorporated and renamed Crouse Ford Sales, Inc. George and Kenneth took it upon themselves to modernize the dealership in 1984, constructing a new facility on an eight-acre site. A newly renovated showroom and facility were completed in 2016, as the company welcomed the fourth generation of family working in the sales and service areas. Throughout Crouse Ford’s 85-year history, the employees have always been the company’s greatest asset, valuing the needs of their customers and providing high levels of customer satisfaction in a relaxed and friendly environment.
